Hello,
and welcome to this practice. We hope you will find the information you are
looking for on these pages. Nothing substitutes for a face to face meeting
to assess questions of “fit.” However,
we hope that some initial questions will be addressed in these pages.
I have been in this profession for over 25 years. Over time, I have developed
a nuanced appreciation for the complexity of life, and the infinite adaptations
necessary during the course of a full life. I view my work as a vocation,
rather than a career, and in truth, there is very little difference between
who I am and what I do for my work.
My professional journey began in India, where I received a BA (Honors) and
MA in Psychology. I then received another Masters Degree from the Harvard
Graduate School of Education in Counseling and Consulting Psychology, and
a Doctoral Degree from the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology.
My clinical internships were done as a Fellow of the Harvard Medical School
at Cambridge Hospital. I wrote my doctoral dissertation on the reading of
Women’s Autobiographies, and the particular challenges of self-realization
for women. Meanwhile, I was also specializing in Mind Body Medicine for ailments
such as Anxiety and Depression, Stress Related Disorders, Cardiovascular
disease, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia,
Cancer, and the like.
Along such a long journey, one is bound to learn a thing or two. Among my
specializations are approaches such as traditional talk therapy, cognitive
behavior therapy, relaxation based therapies, meditation, guided imagery,
and hypnosis.
I view my specializations as a tool kit, from which I adapt interventions
and approaches based upon your particular needs and symptom picture, as well
as your life situation. I believe that any new learning is only as good as
its portability to a client’s real life dilemmas.
My particular strength is visionary pragmatism: I assess what you wish for,
your life realities, and how to lessen the gap between the two. We work together
to find a way out of the present dilemma you might be in, towards creating
a life more in keeping with your aspirations.
This practice offers a range
of options for you. You can choose between face to face individual sessions,
group sessions, short term face to face consults, or phone coaching for focused
challenges. Specialized interests relating to motherhood and women’s
lives can be addressed by personalized workshops and discussion groups.
Please contact me if you would like to continue this conversation. I can
